Abstract
To investigate the effect of terath A 200 hydrophilic polymer and the amount of soil moisture on some traits of greenhouse cucumber of Sultan cultivar, a factorial experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design. Hydrophilic polymer in five levels (zero, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4% based on soil dry weight equal to 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 g.kg soil, respectively) and the amount of soil moisture At three levels (100, 75 and 50% of field capacity) were studied. The results showed that the application of hydrophilic polymer in soil had a positive and significant effect on plant height and number of leaves per plant. Hydrophilic polymer had no significant effect on fresh product and total cucumber yield. Treatment of soil moisture had a significant effect on all studied traits. The highest plant height, number of leaves per plant, fresh and dry weight of plant shoots, fresh and dry weight of roots, new crop and total yield were obtained in 100% field capacity treatment and the lowest in 50% field capacity treatment. Treatment of 75% of field capacity gave intermediate results. Therefore, the use of Trout A200 hydrophilic polymer at the rate of 4 g / kg soil (0.4%) with soil moisture up to 75% of field capacity is recommended for growth, new crop and acceptable yield of greenhouse cucumbers of Sultan cultivar.
