Evaluation of Pot Cultivation of Different Cultivars of Greenhouse Cucumber in Comparison with Cultivation in Soil Bed

Abstract
In order to investigate the possibility of cultivating greenhouse cucumbers in plastic pots, an experiment was conducted in the form of a split plot design in 3 replications. The main plots included two methods of planting in soil and planting in pots and the subplots included four cultivars of greenhouse cucumber. According to the results, the first harvest was done in potted plants and they went to fruit in a shorter period of time than the usual cultivation method and had higher yield than soil cultivation during the first days. At the beginning of the period, the growth of potted plants was higher than the plants grown in the soil, but gradually the growth rate of plants planted in the potting bed decreased. Cultivation method had no significant effect on fruit quality characteristics such as: vitamin C, tissue firmness and fruit acidity. In general, conventional cultivation method had a better effect on growth indices, but more experiments were needed using different pots and different sizes.
