Abstract
Radish is one of the most important fresh vegetable products that its production, yield and quality are strongly influenced by environmental factors such as temperature. The present study compared the growth, yield and product quality, five varieties of radish in the city of Bam weather conditions as a randomized complete block design with three replications was conducted under field conditions. The cultivars studied included: Cheribal, Karistal, Emami, Saturn and Karizno. The results of the experiment showed that the cultivars studied were significantly different in terms of vegetative traits as well as some traits related to quality and nutritional value. In terms of leaf dry weight, Karizano and Emami cultivars had the highest amount and Saturn cultivar had the lowest leaf dry weight. Based on the results, the highest gland wet weight and gland function were obtained in Carizeno cultivar and then in Cherybell cultivar. The highest tuber length was obtained in Cherybel, Karizno and Saturn cultivars, which were significantly different from Karistal and Imami cultivars. The highest amount of vitamin C, acidity and potassium concentration of the gland were also improved in Cariseno and Cheribal cultivars, respectively. No differences were observed between the studied cultivars in terms of leaf number, chlorophyll index, tuber diameter and percentage of soluble solids. According to the improved results, it is likely that the cultivation of two cultivars, Karizano and Charima, in the region and similar climatic conditions, will result in better quantitative and qualitative yield.
